Kenya’s restoration targets – 5.1 million hectares under the Bonn Challenge and 15 billion trees by 2032 – are largely met through fast-growing exotic species. While these trees provide cover, they fail to restore functioning ecosystems.
The "Learning outdoors" project aims to embed regular nature-based learning throughout compulsory schooling in all Swiss schools. It addresses the major challenges of our time: the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and the growing disconnection of younger generations from their natural environment.
Through the projects we support, our approach aims to initiate virtuous circles of sustainable development by and for local communities.
