The project aims to develop valuable habitats for biodiversity in at least 100 sites in Switzerland.
To mark its 100th anniversary, BirdLife Switzerland has launched a project to restore natural habitats in Switzerland, in collaboration with its national organisations, cantonal associations and local sections. The “100 jatural jewels for Switzerland” initiative aims to enhance, restore or create valuable new habitats for biodiversity in at least 100 sites in various Swiss regions. In addition, there are numerous initiatives involving the general public, volunteers of all ages and schools in the implementation of measures, thus helping to raise awareness and appreciation of the value of natural habitats.
Some projects also include the creation of educational trails around rehabilitated sites, with the aim of informing the public about the needs of biodiversity. Together, these natural environments promote the diversity and biological permeability of landscapes, and thus the preservation of biodiversity in Switzerland.
